The Szabo Foundation, operating in Haifa through the Haifa Cultural Foundation to promote informal education, invites organizations to apply for grants and scholarships in the field of informal education taking place in the City of Haifa.

Grants will be awarded to innovative and groundbreaking projects and programs in education, welfare and culture which promote and encourage the values of an egalitarian and democratic society, the integration of excluded populations and/or populations with special needs, support multiculturalism, and make significant contributions to youth.

In addition, scholarships will be awarded to outstanding instructors and mentors, in recognition of exceptional educational activity and meaningful work with youth.

A submitted project proposal must include a detailed description of the program, its objectives and goals, its uniqueness and expected achievements; it must specify the target audience, and give a detailed budget for the project, including any expected income and expenses.

A proposal for an excellence scholarship for an individual instructor must include a detailed, well-reasoned recommendation describing their activities and achievements, the duration of their work, and their impact on youth.

All applications will be examined by a Judging Committee in accordance with the objectives of the Call for Proposals and to the set of criteria that applies to the specific type of application: either asking for support for an educational project, or for awarding a scholarship to an instructor in the field of informal education in the City of Haifa.

Judging Criteria for Candidates and Initiatives submitted in the framework of the
Call for Proposals for promote Informal Education

1. Commitment and perseverance in informal educational and social work :

   Scope and range of the specific activity, continuity of work and degree of commitment in the field.

2. Contribution to the promotion of young leadership and community involvement :

   The ability to lead, influence and encourage social responsibility among youth and within the community.

3. Furthering of social and community values :

   Multiculturalism and the acceptance of others

4. Preservation and nurturing of the environment and its quality

5. Mutual respect, fairness, integrity and strengthening of a democratic society.

6. The quality of the educational action and training/coaching methods :

   Proven use of creative, innovative and meaningful training/coaching methods.

7. Contribution to populations with special needs and to the promotion of equal opportunities .
8. Inspiring education to love of the country and reinforcing the sense of belonging .
9. Fostering social and community resilience :

   Strengthening the sense of belonging, mutual responsibility, and the ability to face challenges.

10. Personal leadership and the ability to influence and impact :

    Personal example, role model, initiative, responsibility and the ability to lead educational and social processes.

11. The contribution of the program, project or instructor to the community :

    Scope of its impact, the number of participants involved, and its potential for continued activity.
