The Haifa Vocal Ensemble
The ensemble is a new chamber choir, founded in Haifa in September 2023 by Yuval Canfi.
As of June 2025, it is composed of seven male and seven female singers, ages 30 to 60. Except for one male and one female singer, all are Haifa residents. They all have a formal musical education, read notes, have good hearing and a good voice. Each singer has already performed as a soloist in a song or a piece of work suitable for their voice.
The Haifa Vocal Ensemble performs a select range of works: choral music, world music, songs in different languages, and numerous arrangements of Hebrew songs.
The Ensemble's performances, intended to provide a high-level cultural contribution to the community, have been highly praised. Since it was founded a year and a half ago, the Ensemble has performed eight times, all in Haifa, for evacuees from northern communities, for senior citizens in nursing homes, during the Memorial Day ceremony, and at the Annual Conference on Comparative Literature at Haifa University, at the “Chadarim” Center. In view of its success, the ensemble was invited for the first time to perform outside of Haifa, and to present the same program at the Misgav Regional Council (on May 25, 2025). Rehearsals are held every Wednesday evening.
